Pękala - Kordylasińska, formerly known as Hob-beats Percussion Duo, has been active on the Polish music scene since 2004. The Ensemble draws inspirations from various musical genres ranging from historical arrangements to contemporary music, to alternative music to noise. Miłosz – vibraphonist and percussionist - is an improvising musician as well as lecturer at the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Magda is a marimba player with focus on contemporary chamber music, and also a pedagogue.
Together they explore and discover new compositions for percussive instruments, with a particular interest in minimal music and the very broad spectrum of electro-acoustic music. They have cooperated with several artists and ensembles including Percussion Clavier de Lyon, Steven Schick, Mitch&Mitch, Felix Kubin. They also founded Hob-beats Percussion Group for extended chamber music projects. Both musicians are award winners of international competitions (including International Percussion Duo Competition – Luxemburg, Universal Marimba Competition – Belgium), they perform in Poland and internationally, highly praised by critics and music lovers alike. Together with the pianists of Lutosławski Piano Duo, Pękala|Kordylasińska|Pękala are part of Kwadrofonik Ensemble, focused on performing 20th and 21st century music.
