Vernon & Burns are a duo of sound makers who create radio plays, records and performances through an innovative mix of samples, field recordings, voice and music. Dredging the kleptomanic plunderground, this singular double act in stereo create aural mystery from oral history. Rarely agreeing upon anything, their music is a tug-of-war between music hall and musique concrète. From the gently sublime to the raucously ridiculous they create a soundtrack to the notion of nonsense.
Performed across Europe, their eclectic live act encompasses everything from ventriloquism and magic to music hall and slapstick. They have produced work for radio stations including the BBC, VPRO, Resonance FM, WFMU and The Audible Picture Show. Their debut LP 'The Tune the Old Cow Died of' was released on Gagarin Records (GR 2012). Other releases on Staalplaat  and on Ultra Eczema (here under the moniker Boy Band Tax Returns) followed. Mark Vernon is also one third of the trio 'Hassle Hound' who have records released on Pickled Egg, Textile, Staubgold and Twisted Nerve.

Mr Burns has a layman's ear. Mr Vernon has an academic's salary.
